With tickets sales and ad revenue down the National Football League is cutting cost by eliminating 10% of employees at league offices. The move will reduce the impact of worsening economic conditions. Although the NFL has the best TV deal of any professional league in the United States margins are small.
The layoffs are a attempt to act ahead of what the NFL sees as revenue declines not only this year but into the 2010 season.
